Rusko Essential Mix

the subject of the first ever post on 84/85, Rusko is back with his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, KILLING it with the heavy wobbly isht and off-kilter tempos. this sound looks to be one of the big things to come in 09 as producers move past 4/4 bangers into more inventive sounds, many of which are showcased on this mix. pick this one up and thump it hard.

High Rankin'

since I already made my love for a new breed of dirty dubstep known in our first post, I thought I should give you all some more choice cuts from the genre. High Rankin' is a producer based out of Brighton in the UK who has been creating both inventive dubstep and drum 'n bass for well over a hot minute now. and while d'nb isn't my thing and probably never will be, his dark, driving, gangster-ass dubstep is right up my alley. these two tracks come off the 'You, Me, and the Devil' ep, out now on Suicide Dub. as always, be sure to buy more on Beatport.

Sub Soldiers

now that the new electro scene has finally over-saturated itself with too many DJ's playing/producing the same watered down, under-produced 4/4 music, blogs and club-goers have started looking for what's next. along with 90's inspired rave sounds, dubstep has been making a comeback, primarily out of the UK where it maintains the ability to consistently fill parties. leading this scene are the Sub Soldiers, aka producers Caspa and Rusko and their ultra bass-heavy 2 step. having received support from leading DJ's like Sinden, Herve, Drop The Lime and A-Trak, count on these two to rise to even greater prominence in 2009.
