throwback - Jimmy Tamborello

born, raised, and currently residing in LA, Jimmy Tamborello is a pioneering electronic producer credited with being an originator of the glitch and IDM genres. he has also been a widespread collaborator, having worked with the likes of Jenny Lewis, Conner Oberst, Erlend Oye and Grizzly Bear. steadily releasing work under his Dntel and James Figurine monikers, Tamborello was also the driving force behind the bands Strictly Ballroom and Figurine. oh, and he was also in a little-known band with Ben Gibbard called the Postal Service. wait, don't stop reading! even though the Postal Service tracks (which, objectively, are good) eventually because over-commercialized and overplayed, Tamborello's other work under his aliases stands the test of time. unique broken drum patterns, bleeps and soft pads galore, and his signature monotone singing voice make the Dntel and Figurine projects perfect headphone music for fall walks and bus rides. with no new (revealed) projects in the works, I've been delving in to my Tamborello back catalogue - here are a couple of my favorites.

Dntel - Umbrella (from the album 'Life is Full of Possibilities')

Figurine - Stranger (from the album 'Heartfelt')
